First party? Everything you need to know

No panic: here is what you need to know before you come. The exact rules (age, cloakroom, allowed items) change from one party to the next: the event page and the venue's own rules are what count.

How old do I have to be?

Most parties are for adults only (18 and over). You may be asked for valid photo ID at the door, even with a ticket. The minimum age for each party is shown on its page when it is known.

What can I bring?

Pack light: your ticket, ID, a way to pay and a charged phone. Large bags, glass bottles, sharp objects and illegal substances are usually refused by security.

Cloakroom and bags

Many venues have a cloakroom, often paid. Travel light: the more you carry, the longer the queue, on the way in and on the way out. Keep some money for the cloakroom and never leave anything valuable in it.

How do I get home?

Plan your way back before you go: last trains and buses, a lift, a taxi, or a friend who isn't drinking and can drive. The event page gives the venue and address; also check whether a shuttle is planned.

I feel unwell, who do I see?

Tell security, the staff or a first-aider (if there is one) straight away: they are there for you, without judgement. Drink water, step outside for some air, stay with your friends. In an emergency, call 112.
