Jean-Michel Jarre: 50 years of Oxygene celebrated with a world tour

In 1976, Jean-Michel Jarre released Oxygene, an album that would leave a lasting mark on the history of electronic music. Fifty years later, the French composer celebrates this legacy with “OXYGENE & BEYOND”, an international tour kicking off in Europe in autumn 2027. An opportunity to revisit his iconic tracks, but also to get a sneak peek at songs from his upcoming album.
Announced on October 21 during the Amsterdam Dance Event, this new production is part of a symbolic year for the artist. Jean-Michel Jarre is preparing an immersive show that will create a dialogue between several decades of creation and new compositions expected in spring 2027. Far from being limited to a tribute to his past, the project aims to show how his universe continues to evolve.

Upon its release, Oxygene helped bring electronic music to the general public. With its synthesizers, atmospheric textures and futuristic melodies, the album opened up new musical perspectives. “Oxygene, Part IV”, which became one of his most famous tracks, remains a benchmark for several generations of listeners and producers today.
Since then, Jean-Michel Jarre has constantly explored the links between music and technology, notably through monumental concerts and immersive audiovisual creations. This approach has helped transform the way electronic music is presented on stage, long before visual shows became a staple at major festivals.
The “OXYGENE & BEYOND” tour will visit several European cities, including Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, London and Barcelona. In France, three concerts are scheduled at La Seine Musicale, in Boulogne-Billancourt, on October 14, 15 and 16, 2027. This will mark the artist's big return to a French stage after a ten-year absence. The tour will then continue around the world in 2028.

The celebrations will begin this autumn with a special remastered edition of Oxygene, expected on November 20, 2026, including immersive mixes in Dolby Atmos and 5.1. On November 5, MACHINES : Une histoire de la musique électronique will also be published, a book in which Jean-Michel Jarre explores the evolution of instruments, from the first analog experiments to digital technologies and artificial intelligence.
Fifty years after helping to shape the electronic landscape, Jean-Michel Jarre continues to look forward. With this tour, he brings together the album that marked his beginnings and the sounds that will shape the rest of his journey.
